Make a Model of the Solar System
You can do this space science kids project all by yourself!
You will need the following materials:
1 large illustration board
modeling clay (in many colors)
pencil
ruler
cutter
Instructions:
On the large illustration board, draw your solar system with a pencil, plotting out where you will place each planet, moon, and/or asteroid belt.
Use the ruler to make sure that the solar system is more or less correct in terms of distance.
With your modeling clay, begin to make your solar system.
Create all the planets except the earth, and do not create the sun yet. Put the planets, moons, and asteroid belt in the right positions.
Create your earth using blue clay, and then cut the sphere in half with the cutter. Using other clay colors, stick the appropriate colors on the inner part of the earth sphere in order to show the different parts or layers of the earth.
Create your sun using yellow clay, and then cut the sphere in half with the cutter. Using other clay colors, stick the appropriate colors on the inner part of the sun sphere in order to show the different parts or layers of the sun.
Present your project to class!
